Montevideo – (dpa)
Leonardo Oliveira, director of agricultural services at the Ministry of Agriculture in Uruguay, told reporters on Tuesday that the country will continue to monitor the border with Argentina after the Argentine authorities managed to eliminate a large locust swarm that was 20 km from the border with Uruguay.
According to Bloomberg News, an unlimited number of locusts survived the spraying of pesticides last week.
“We are still on high alert,” Oliveira said.
