UPDATE 17:30 At least 21 people were killed during the night blows in the Odessa region of southern Ukraine, according to Sky News.
The rockets hit a nine-storey apartment building in the village-resort Serhiivka on Friday at 1.00am – which was completely destroyed by the explosion.
An adjoining apartment building was also damaged and nearby holiday camps were also hit, according to Reuters news agency.
Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odessa regional administration, said 21 people had been confirmed dead in the attack. Among them is a 12-year-old boy.
It was previously thought that two children were killed, but this is now unclear.
Authorities previously said 41 people had been rescued from the 152-person apartment building.
UPDATE Ukraine’s state emergency service has updated the death toll from Russia’s overnight attacks on the Odessa region.
“At the moment, we know about 19 dead and 38 injured, including 6 children,” they said Ukrainian authorities.

UPDATE The governor of the Odessa region announced in a post on the Telegram that the death toll had risen to 18 dead and 31 wounded, following Russian attacks during the night.
“As a result of a night missile attack by strategic Black Sea Tu-22 aircraft in the Belgorod-Dniester district of the Odessa region, three X-22 missiles hit an apartment building and a recreation center.
By 9.00 am, 18 victims had been identified, including 2 children, and 31 people had been hospitalized, including 4 children and a pregnant woman. Another 8 people requested medical help. 8 people were rescued from the rubble, including 3 children. Rescue operations continue, “said Governor Maksym Marchenko.

At least 17 people have been killed in attacks on buildings in the Odessa region of southern Ukraine, in the context in which the Ukrainian army has just taken over from the Russians a strategic island for controlling maritime routes, AFP reported on Friday.
