Upcoming Public Meetings on Stabilized Rent Price Increase in NYC

NEW YORK — Time is ticking and every second we are closer to reaching a vote on the stabilized rent price.

A public meeting was held on Monday where the tenants had the opportunity to express their feelings.

The final vote is scheduled for June 21.

Emotions were running high where the rental guidelines board meeting was held.

“The increase would affect me a lot because with what they happen to me I can’t pay,” said Bienvenida Páez. “You can’t, it’s too much.”

Recall in a vote of 5 to 4 the board approved an increase from 2% to 5% for one-year leases and an even larger increase from 4% to 7% for two-year leases.

There are more public meetings like this scheduled. One will arrive this Thursday and will be in the auditorium of the Jamaica Center for the Performing Arts.
