Last week, 31 cases of infection were detected in Ringerike municipality, compared with 24 cases the week before. So far this week, 13 cases have been proven.
«We see a rising infection trend in Ringerike. We follow the situation closely and assess it on an ongoing basis», The municipality wrote in one status report Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the situation has escalated further.
– What we see now is that the infection in the last 24 hours has led to quite a few people being quarantined and waiting for quarantine, says municipal chief physician Karin Møller to Ringerikes Blad.
With so many in quarantine, both municipal and private companies are threatened, in areas for water and sewage, schools, kindergartens and shops, she says.
–
Healthcare professionals who do not work with “MUST” tasks are also moved to testing and infection tracking, due to high demand.
According to Ringerikes Blad, the municipal council politicians, without mayor Kirsten Orebråten, who is being tested for the virus on Wednesday night, will at the time of writing be sent a proposal for local regulations that will apply from Friday if it is adopted on Thursday.
– The regulations will be similar to what we presented for Christmas, with a few nuances, says Møller.
This means restrictions on how many people can meet and the closure of a number of meeting places. Pouring stops will be part of the picture that is now being processed by the municipal council.
Møller says that the municipality “must close down to avoid collapse”.
