Until the end of the deficit, manufacturers will mainly produce expensive versions of GeForce RTX 30 series video cards

In the context of a total shortage of NVIDIA video cards of the GeForce RTX 30xx family, many stores began to keep open statistics on deliveries and sales so that customers do not get the impression that everyone around them is luckier than them. As representatives of one of NVIDIA’s partners explained, while there are few GPUs, it is more profitable to produce overclocked video cards.

Overclocked modifications of video cards are understood as those whose operating frequencies are increased relative to the reference ones. They are often equipped with more efficient cooling systems, are richly decorated and equipped, and therefore are more expensive. Manufacturers earn more on such copies, it is more profitable to sell them, especially now, in conditions of shortage.

As representatives of the ASUS brand admitted in the comments to the British online store Overclockers UK, now the priority is given to the production of GeForce RTX 30 series video cards with increased nominal frequencies, and more affordable basic modifications will appear on sale as the deficit is eliminated. About the forecasts regarding the timing of the deficit, representatives of the online store do not disagree with the leadership of NVIDIA, which believes that the problems with the availability of video cards will be more or less solved only by the beginning of next year.

In this “fly in the ointment” there is a small “spoon of honey”. As it turns out, in the British market, the situation with the balance of supply and demand for GeForce RTX 3090 is slightly better than that of more affordable video cards of the series, and therefore all orders placed now can be satisfied by the end of December. It cannot be ruled out that in other regions more expensive video cards will saturate their market segment faster, simply for the reason that there will be fewer people who can buy them in conditions of macroeconomic instability.
