Until Monday, a warning against severe frosts applies, on Sunday it was even minus 30 degrees – ČT24 – Czech Television

The current frost warning applies to most of the Czech Republic until Monday at 11:00. In the Olomouc, Zlín and Moravian-Silesian regions, it will freeze strongly until about midnight. Meteorologists have warned that people are at risk of catching cold or even freezing of unprotected parts of the body. Therefore, people should not forget if they go out, put on several layers of clothes and wear suitable shoes. Young children or the elderly and sick should only stay outside for as short a time as possible.

CHMI has previously issued a warning against severe frosts valid until further notice. He has now clarified that he will probably warm up on Tuesday. “On Monday evening and at night on Tuesday, an occlusion front will cross our territory from the west, and on Tuesday during the day and in the evening, a warm front will pass,” the staff of the institute announced. According to the CHMI forecast, the temperature in the southwest of the country will reach two degrees above zero during the day during Tuesday. On Wednesday, the temperature in the Czech Republic can rise up to plus four degrees Celsius.

It was minus thirty in the Ore Mountains

It was freezing the most on Sunday morning in Jelení in the Karlovy Vary region, where, according to the graph, the automatic station was up to minus 32 degrees. However, there was severe frost throughout the region.

In Deer temperatures reached a minimum between 6:00 and 8:00 in the morning. The temperature to minus 32 would mean the lowest temperature this winter in the Czech Republic, but this is not an official figure. “But the station is down, so the exact value cannot be determined at this time. From the data of nearby stations, Rolava had the lowest temperature, where it was minus 28.4, “said Josef Cink from the Pilsen branch of the CHMI. Even in Šindelová in the Sokolovská region, it was 25 degrees below zero around 8:00 in the morning.

It also froze heavily in the larger cities of the region on Sunday morning. Karlovy Vary had about minus 18 degrees Celsius at the airport, similar to Cheb. It was about a degree colder in Sokolov.

After dawn, however, it started to warm up quickly, thanks to the almost clear sky and sunny weather. According to the forecast, temperatures in the region should rise to minus five to minus two degrees Celsius on Sunday, in the mountains it will be between minus seven to minus four degrees.
