jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Commissioner for the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Retno Listyarti said that the attitude of the teacher with the initials TS (56) who invited students to choose the head of the student council with the same religion was a threat.
“This is a threat to the diversity in public schools,” said Retno in her official statement in Jakarta, Wednesday night (28/10).
Retno explained that TS’s conversation in the WhatsApp group ‘Rohis 58’ was revealed after going viral on social media.
In the conversation, TS, who is a teacher of Islamic Religious Education and Character, asked members of the ‘Rohis 58’ group not to vote for a non-Muslim candidate for the Student Council Chairperson.
The screenshot of the message written by TS is as follows: “Assalamualaikum … be careful to elect the Student Council Chairperson for Candidates for Candidates 1 and 2 for non-Islamic candidates … so, however, the majority of us have to have a chairman who is in the same faith as us”.
“Please pray and support for Candidate Candidate 3, please pray and support for Candidate Candidate 3, Watch out for Rohis, don’t anyone become a traitor,” TS wrote in the group.
Retno explained that this case had been handled by the Jakarta Region II Education Sub-department, and the teacher in question had also been given guidance by the school principal.
The TS teacher has even been BAP (examination report), and the school principal has reported it to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Office.
