“University Dentistry” publishes a brochure for the visually impaired in Braille

Sharjah University Dental Hospital celebrated World Braille Day, which falls on 4 January every year, by issuing and distributing Braille-printed educational materials on oral and dental health and aftercare instructions to reduce the risk of dental problems and oral diseases and improve the quality of private health life of the visually impaired.

In conjunction with the celebrations of Sharjah University’s Silver Jubilee and its role in serving members of society with special needs, Sharjah University University Dental Hospital celebrated World Braille Day, which was approved by the United Nations on January 4 every year, through the issuance and distribution of educational materials printed in braille Oral and dental health and post-dental counseling to reduce the risk of dental problems and oral diseases and improve people’s quality of life with visual impairments.

This occurred during a hands-on workshop organized by the University Dental Hospital of the University of Sharjah through the mobile dental clinic in collaboration with the Emirates Society for the Visually Impaired, where awareness was spread on the most important preventive measures to reduce the risk of oral diseases and dental diseases.

In addition to the comprehensive examinations and immediate treatments provided by the mobile dental clinic, the mobile clinic provides free examination and treatment services to all members of the community and is equipped with the necessary equipment and trained medical personnel.

Educational brochures on oral and dental health were distributed in Braille for the first time in the Emirate of Sharjah, in collaboration with the Emirates Association for the Blind, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the association, in the presence of Prof Dr. And numerous doctors, specialists, students of the Faculty of Dentistry, children of the Association and their families.

Prof. Ahmed Hamdan, Dean of Sharjah University College of Dentistry, confirmed that these community initiatives are in line with the strategy of the College of Dentistry and Sharjah University, which aims to serve and develop the community, and coincides with the celebrations of the Silver Jubilee of the University of Sharjah and the 25th anniversary of its foundation.
