Universities – Hamburg – Science City Bahrenfeld: learning location planned for students – education

Hamburg (dpa / lno) – Students of physics, chemistry and biology are to be given a new learning location on around 11,000 square meters in the Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld. In addition to work and research areas – including an information center with a library and student workstations – there will also be a student service center, rooms for student councils and the AStA, as well as a range of dining options from the student union. The science authority announced on Wednesday. To implement this, the city has now acquired the Albert-Einstein-Ring 17-21 building complex and has initiated a feasibility study.

“The new learning center should provide attractive and tailor-made framework conditions for studying in the Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld,” said Senator for Science Katharina Fegebank (Greens). As a learning and meeting place, it should be an anchor point for the students on campus and “at the same time one of the lighthouses that stands for the innovative strength of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld”. Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) emphasized: “The students of the physics, chemistry and biology courses will now be brought to DESY in Bahrenfeld.”
