Universal Parks & Resorts Plans New theme Parks in Texas and the U.K.
Universal Parks & Resorts is expanding its footprint with plans for two new theme park destinations: a family-amiable resort in Frisco,Texas, and a larger park in Bedford,U.K. The developments signal the company’s ambition to reach new audiences and build brand loyalty across generations.
The Texas park, dubbed Universal Kids resort, will cater to young families and is slated to open in 2026. It will feature attractions based on popular DreamWorks Animation properties like Trolls and Gabby’s dollhouse, alongside a 300-room hotel.Universal executives envision the resort as a “feeder” park, encouraging families to become familiar with the Universal brand and eventually visit the company’s larger parks. Simultaneously, a full-blown Universal theme park with a 500-room hotel is planned for Bedford, U.K., with construction beginning in 2026.
“We have a terrific pipeline of intellectual property in the form of DreamWorks and Trolls and Gabby’s Dollhouse to build around,” said Universal Parks & Resorts representatives. The U.K. park will offer a unique mix of attractions designed to complement, not compete with, existing travel patterns to Universal Orlando Resort.
According to a company press release, the U.K. park is being designed as a standalone destination, similar in scale to Universal’s Epic Universe, currently under construction in Orlando. The new parks represent a significant investment in the future of Universal Parks & Resorts and its strategy to broaden its global reach.
