I cannot help but express myself confused and disturbed in the midst of the evolution of this already sixth wave of the pandemic, in which the collusion between omicron, delta, and who knows if some other variant of the virus, still unnamed, is squeezing us. Bullets whistle nearby, says a friend of mine. And it is true: each time we feel closer to the noise; rare is the family, or the group of friends and acquaintances, where there is no contagion, where a member, or several of them, do not have symptoms, where close contact has not motivated quarantines and isolations, frequent use of antigen or pcr , ingestion of paracetamol piecework, or, in short, any of those situations that have become so familiar to us.
Having described the context, the confusion that I said at the beginning immediately catches my spirits. Every day I hear representatives of highly qualified institutions in the health field, or scientists and researchers who I recognize as having a high professional level, make statements regarding the progression of infections. And they come to say, in different ways, that we must be aware that, sooner or later, practically all of us will experience contagion. I don’t know if it’s a warning or a forecast, but, without going any further, one of these days I heard a spokesperson for the World Health Organization affirm that, soon, half of the inhabitants of the European Union would have been infected .
I kept thinking. If so, I fail to fully understand the meaning of preventive measures, perhaps except in high-risk cases, or unvaccinated people. I wonder, then, if it would not be a better strategy, assuming that the contagion will not rest, and trusting that the effects are mild, as fortunately is happening in most cases, to lower the level of obsession a little, of course without abandoning precautions just in case.
We miss a serene and well-founded word that enlightens us about it. And it would be good if, if this forecast for the future is already verifiable, the strategy to be followed would be clarified a little so that we all gain peace of mind. It is not true?
