United States.- Trump warns that he will take measures “in the coming days” against certain Chinese ‘apps’, including TikTok

WASHINGTON, 4 (EUROPA PRESS)

United States President Donald Trump has announced that he will take action against certain Chinese mobile applications, including the popular TikTok, despite the fact that on Monday he had stated that his parent, ByteDance, had until September 15 to sell his operations in the country.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has indicated at a press conference Tuesday that Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have assured that they will take “action in the coming days” against those applications on the grounds of National security”.

Specifically, the White House spokeswoman has explained that the president and Pompeo have stated that there must be a “change” with respect to TikTok because it collects a “significant” amount of user data and that is “unacceptable” .

Several journalists have asked the spokeswoman about Trump’s statements that the United States Treasury should take a percentage of the TikTok purchase agreement, although McEnany has not gone into detail and has only replied that he does not want to “get ahead” to the president.

So far, the only company that has openly acknowledged that it is negotiating the purchase of the popular micro-video ‘app’ is Microsoft. This Tuesday, the digital media ‘Axios’ has stated, citing various sources, that Apple is also interested in taking over the Chinese ‘app’, although a company spokesman has denied this shortly after.
