The regional branch of United Russia of Tatarstan nominated the incumbent president of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, as a candidate for the election of the head of the republic, which is scheduled for September 13. This was reported by the press service of the regional branch of the party.
On June 27, United Russia party held a conference, the main issue on the agenda of which was the vote on the nomination of a candidate for the post of president of the republic.
Two candidates were put forward for consideration – Minnikhanov and the Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of Tatarstan Lenar Safin. As a result of the vote, most party members supported the current head of the region.
Putin supported the participation of Minnikhanov in the election of the head of Tatarstan
Earlier, Minnikhanov’s candidacy was supported by President Vladimir Putin.
