Unions angry about leakage of Brantano closure list

At Brantano there is great unrest among the staff about the shops that have to close. The unions are angry.

The publication of the list of 9 Brantano stores that would close in Flanders is causing great concern to Brantano staff. The unions react angrily. “We are only in the first phase of the Renault Act. It is precisely the intention to propose alternatives and save as much employment as possible. We find it unacceptable that people are already leaking out where shops have to close ‘, say Lindsey Verhaeghe (BBTK) and Sven De Scheemaeker (ACV Puls). The unions emphasize that they do not accept the planned closings at all. They have petitioned to appoint provisional administrators and want the rescue plan to focus on the underlying stores and jobs. Not saving the holding company FNG itself.

This morning, the Mechelen Commercial Court will deal with both the question of judicial reorganization (protection against creditors) of 3 companies, including Brantano, and the petition from the ACV and the BBTK. It is not clear whether the applications will be processed today. At FNG itself there is anger at the move of the unions to ask provisional administrators.
