Berlin – For coach Urs Fischer, the negative series of 1. FC Union Berlin against VfL Wolfsburg is not an unconditional additional motivation.

“I didn’t even know that we hadn’t won against Wolfsburg yet,” said the 55-year-old Swiss. He doesn’t care too much, Fischer assured, and his players should be “hot enough” for the home game this Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky) against Lower Saxony.

Before the eighth game day, the Conference League participant from Berlin has only one point less than the Champions League participant from Wolfsburg. Of the six competitive games against VfL so far, the Berliners lost four, two games ended in a draw.

With their first win, the Eiserne would definitely overtake Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga table and advance further into the top third. The game was a “really great job”, emphasized Fischer, who with his team is hoping for a third victory in a row in the league.
