Union Berlin hard-working, SC Freiburg still without commitment: an overview of all Bundesliga entries

This weekend the following applies: After a short season preparation for many stars due to the European Championship, the new Bundesliga season starts. On Friday, Borussia Mönchengladbach and record and series champions FC Bayern Munich face each other in the opening game (8.30 p.m., DAZN and Sat.1). Over the course of the weekend, the other 16 clubs will also start the new season. And they all hope that the new players will integrate well into the existing team.

The clubs from the German Beletage have already signed a total of almost 100 new professionals during this summer break. And the clubs were differently hardworking on the transfer market: Eleven out of 18 clubs have presented four newcomers or fewer – SC Freiburg is the only one to date and none at all. At other clubs such as Union Berlin (14 entries), Arminia Bielefeld (9) or Eintracht Frankfurt (8), many new faces have recently been seen in training. The sportBUZZER shows an overview of all the newcomers to the Bundesliga.

The cadre architects of the 18 clubs do not have to finalize their plans anyway: the transfer window in Germany is open until August 31. So if the first game days reveal major weaknesses, there would still be time to readjust. Conversely, some players could still recommend switching to another club on the first three match days – think, for example, of Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer, who is said to be very popular at Bayern. Even after the transfer has been completed, further additions cannot be ruled out: players without a contract can sign the clubs at any time – and there are currently still top-class candidates in this market, such as Jerome Boateng.
