Unilever: inflation will accelerate next year

Unilever is raising prices because of higher supply chain costs and expectations that inflation will accelerate next year, CNN writes.

Product prices in all major categories of Dove and Ben & Jerry’s rose more than 4% in the third quarter.

This is the largest increase in at least seven years, according to Bloomberg. The reason is that producers’ costs for delivery, raw materials and labor are rising.

The largest food company Nestlé also raised prices by 1.6% in the first nine months of this year.

The manufacturer of Pampers, Tide and Gillette – Procter & Gamble will also raise the prices of some cosmetic products.

Unilever predicts that inflation will continue next year, and CEO Alan Joop said the company would “introduce measures to offset the increased costs.”

A few days ago, Moody’s Analytics warned that problems in US supply chains would deepen and the economic recovery could slow.
