Unhappy, Today 18 Ton Rocket Owned by China Falls to Earth, Whether Landed Where

KOMPAS.comChina’s Long-March 5B rocket launched on April 29 is predicted to land on Sunday (9/5/2021) at around 06.00. It is likely that the rocket will enter the earth’s atmosphere on Saturday (8/5/2021).

The rocket carrying the new space station’s first module will be traveling downward at hundreds of kilometers per hour. Unfortunately, experts find it difficult to determine where the 18-ton rocket will fall.

Pentagon spokesman Mike Howard hopes the rocket debris lands in the sea, not on land. Given that about 70 percent of the earth is water.

“We really hope that the debris will land where it won’t hurt anyone,” Mike said.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Autin previously assessed that China had neglected to allow the rocket body to fall into orbit. However, the US Piahk did not plan to shoot down the rocket.

“Given the size of the object, there will definitely be a large chunk left,” said Florent Delefie, an astronomer at the Paris-PSL Observatory.

Delefie said the possibility of rocket debris landing in residential areas would be very small. One in a million odds.

Astrophysicists from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in front of China were asked to redesign the rocket so that this scenario would not be repeated. He said the real chance of damage from rockets could occur and could even cause casualties.

“Having a ton of scrap metal hurtling toward Earth at hundreds of kilometers per hour is not a good practice, and China will have to redesign the Long-March 5B mission to avoid this,” McDowell added.

Meanwhile, responding to US concerns, Beijing assured that most of the components of the rocket body will be destroyed when it enters the earth.

“The chances of causing damage on the mainland are very slim,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, Friday (7/5/2021).
