Officially registered unemployed Ukrainians will be involved in community service if they cannot find a job within 30 days. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday, June 21.

“The government is launching a reform of the entire employment sector. In the context of a full-scale war, we need to mobilize all possible resources to defeat the Russian invaders. This also applies to the organization of work in the rear. The government today will approve a document providing that officially registered unemployed who have not employed, will be involved in socially useful work,” he said.

According to the prime minister, the unemployed can be involved in the removal of rubble, the construction of protective structures, landscaping, repair or agricultural work.

“What exactly needs to be done in each particular region will be determined by the local authorities. Of course, this work will be paid. The state will pay everyone involved in socially useful work a minimum wage. from the proposed work. In wartime conditions, the state does not have the resources for this. Everyone must either fight and defend the Motherland, or work for victory and for the front,” Shmyhal said.

He also said that if the unemployed stay abroad for more than 30 days during martial law, the status and benefits are lost.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada reported that current unemployment rate 20% lower than a year earlier. This is due to the departure of Ukrainians because of the war. About 308 thousand people are officially unemployed.

At today’s meeting, the Cabinet also approved launching the eRobot programfor which he allocated 16 billion hryvnia.
