Egypt revealed the circumstances of the existence of a network to trap and sexually blackmail teenage girls in the country.
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced in an official statement that it was able to uncover the circumstances of what was reported about the existence of an international network to lure teenage girls over the Internet and sexually blackmail them.
She said that, upon examination, it was found that this activity was being committed through two Facebook accounts, and that behind them was an unemployed person with a criminal record who resides in Giza Governorate. After codifying the procedures, this person was arrested, and a computer, a mobile phone, and a portable hard disk in his possession were also seized.
Upon technical examination of the seized items, it was revealed that there were traces and evidence of his management of the two accounts, through which he assumed two fake characters and attracted girls and women by deceiving them by providing them with job opportunities as “models” (fashion models), so they would be lured and obtain photos and video clips from them.
The Egyptian Interior Ministry stated that the accused was using these photos and videos to threaten and blackmail the girls. He was also inciting them to film indecent videos in order to bargain with them and force them to commit immoral acts. He was also receiving sums of money from them in exchange for not publishing those videos.
The accused was arrested and legal measures were taken against him, and the prosecution, which took over the investigation, was notified.
