“Uncover the Cultural Treasures of Gers with Our Facebook Page: Your Go-to Guide for Events and Activities in the Region”

Social networks have considerably transformed the way we communicate and interact with our environment. They have made it possible to create online communities around common interests and have facilitated access to information. They have become essential tools for promoting local events and initiatives, providing unparalleled visibility for organizations and individuals.

The Gers newspaper was able to interview Daniel Moreira Ferreira, who is behind the Facebook page “What to do in the Gers?”.

The Gers newspaper: Hello Daniel, first of all, could you briefly introduce yourself and explain to us how you came up with the idea of creating the Facebook page “What to do in the Gers?” ? How was this project born and what motivated you to create it?

Daniel Moreira Ferreira: My name is Daniel Moreira Ferreira, I am 23 years old and I live in Mirande. I am still a student and I am currently in the last year of a Masters in Insurance in Toulouse. The group “What to do in the Gers?” was born in April 2021 when I was looking for ideas for weekend outings. I then said to myself, why not create a group where each Gersois could publish the events and animations of their city/village in order to make them known to others. The goal is to provide access to information, that it radiates and reaches the entire population of Gers.

The Gers newspaper: What audience is your Facebook page aimed at and how have you structured its content to meet their needs and interests?

Daniel Moreira Ferreira: With this group and the publications I try to reach the widest audience possible. This page is intended for both young and old and for all types of events occurring in the Gers. Anyone can join the group and contribute without limits. As in all groups that are set up on Facebook, I had to implement rules of good conduct that everyone must accept before being able to access it.

The Gers newspaper: How do you see your role in promoting local life in the Gers?

Daniel Moreira Ferreira: I try to invest myself at my level and with my modest means. In any case, I hope that this page is useful to everyone and allows a good flow of local information.

The Gers newspaper: Have you noticed a positive impact of your page on the life of the local community?

Daniel Moreira Ferreira: I have no real indicator as to the impact of the page, apart from the group’s statistics which detail the popularity of each publication and the reactions of people on each of them. To give you an idea, over one year we are at around 1,600 publications and views around 160,000 times in total.

The Gers newspaper: How do you envision the future of your page and what are your plans to make it evolve?

Daniel Moreira Ferreira: I hope the page will continue to grow by seeing new Gersois members arrive or simply people who love this beautiful department. No specific projects planned, but why not one day.

The Gers newspaper: Finally, what message would you like to send to the inhabitants of the Gers and to those who do not yet know your page? Do you invite them to join her?

Daniel Moreira Ferreira: I invite them to join us: we have almost 4000 members to date and I hope that we will be even more numerous in the future.

The Facebook page “What to do in the Gers?” by Daniel Moreira Ferreira is an example of how social networks can be used to promote and energize local life. We invite all the inhabitants of the Gers and lovers of our department to join this online community, to share their events and their local activities and to commit to promoting the Gers.

We also remind you that the Gers newspaper has an agenda page and a contact form to publish events.
