Unavailable material increases prices. Production is blocked, for example, by a lack of paper boxes – ČT24 – Czech Television

“Prices in industry will grow at a rate of about six percent until the end of this year. The impact on consumers will be very, very individual, “commented ČSOB analyst Petr Dufek.

The manufacturers themselves have higher costs, but according to Dufek, no turnover can be expected there either. “Prices are only gradually reacting to the previous rise in prices of inputs on foreign markets, and in addition, higher energy costs will have to be taken into account. We cannot rely on the improvement of the situation on the oil market either, because the currently approved increase in production will be far from enough to turn around oil prices, “he said.

Packaging and transport material are also missing

Chips, plastics, copper or even paper are currently expensive and little available. Problems with production have already spread beyond the automotive and construction industries. Increasing prices and outages in the supply of input materials are felt, for example, in the Benešov production facility for medical devices.

“I would say that almost everything is becoming more expensive. When we did the last analyzes at the end of June, we were twenty percent higher in production prices than we were last year, “said BTL Group Technical Director Tomáš Drbal.

According to him, some suppliers became even more expensive by a third and selected materials were no longer fully available. “Sometimes it’s very trivial things, such as packing boxes or granules for molding plastics, which block the whole process. You can’t make the device, you can’t pack it, “Drbal described.

They don’t have to project it into the final prices for customers yet, the developers are trying to come up with alternatives. However, the price increase of about a tenth will probably come in the autumn.

The production of mirrors is also more expensive. Every day in Čelákovice they process a truck of glass, but there is also a lack of this material. “We have to fight for every shipment we receive, and that prevents us a little from fulfilling our obligations,” described director Lucie Hronová.

But they also need fittings or wood. This rose by almost nine percent year on year. “It is not possible to buy ordinary boards, which in our country, as in the production of mirrors, seems to be a secondary issue, but we have to ship the mirrors on something,” said Hronová.

Therefore, a furniture manufacturer from Hostivař in Prague must also negotiate with suppliers and clients. Also due to delays in the supply of chipboard. “We have signed orders for a certain date under a certain penalty. For example, in the case of chipboard, it is so dramatic that some decors in the order of about four to six weeks are extended to, for example, up to three months, “said the sales director of TECHO.

The mortgage rate is also rising

Other industries have already had to raise prices. This has manifested itself dramatically, for example, in the case of chemicals and products, which have risen in price by almost forty percent. Companies and customers also pay significantly more for metals and metal products, by more than 14 percent.

However, the rise in prices did not escape other areas either. For the fourth time in a row in June, the mortgage rate also rose, to 2.13 percent. Nevertheless, people’s interest in mortgages is not declining. In June, banks arranged over 14,000 housing loans for a total of 44.5 billion crowns.

“Banks are overwhelmed and I don’t think that the interest in mortgage loans will change the fact that the Czech National Bank will probably raise interest rates again. So the growth will continue, “said Patron mortgage specialist Daniel Horňák.
