Law enforcers found hiding places behind the driver’s seats and under the lining of the cargo compartment.
At the Yagodin checkpoint, border guards found a woman who was transporting ammunition to Ukraine. This was reported by the press service State border services.
It is reported that a Ukrainian citizen was driving a Renault car from Poland to Ukraine through the Yagodin checkpoint.
Taking into account the existing risks of the possible transportation of prohibited goods, the border guards, together with the customs inspector, decided on an additional inspection of this vehicle.
According to the results of an in-depth inspection, law enforcement officers found hiding places behind the driver’s seats and under the skin of the cargo compartment.
It turned out that the woman was secretly transporting 800 7.62 mm shells, 4.5 thousand bullets of 7.83 mm and 8.6 mm calibers, as well as 24 telescopic batons of 23 and 26 inches.
Possible signs of a criminal offense were reported to the police. The National Police officers carried out investigative actions and seized the vehicle.
Earlier it was reported that European law enforcement managed to disclose the activities a criminal group of 12 people who were involved in arms smuggling.
