Ministry of Health announced new supplies of Pfizer to Ukraine

In Ukraine, a shortage of a drug by the American company Pfizer for vaccination against coronavirus was noticed.

Health Minister Viktor Lyashko announced that Ukraine will receive new doses of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine this week. He said that the prerarats will arrive in Ukraine in two parties. The head of the Ministry of Health said this on the air of a talk show Freedom of speech on ICTV.

“This week we expect another million doses of Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday-Wednesday. And by the end of the week there will be another 1.5 million doses of Pfizer,” the minister said.

Predicting mortality from coronavirus infection in Ukraine, the minister noted that “high numbers will still be recorded.”

“The mortality rate will still catch up with us in the number of cases – this is a global trend, when there is a stabilization in cases, but high numbers will still be recorded in mortality,” he said.

According to Lyashko, this is because the mortality statistics include not only cases that occurred as a result of the COVID-19 disease, but also all cases – heart attacks, strokes in those infected with covid.

“The cause of death is established later, since an autopsy is performed, a postmortem examination is carried out, and after that the causes of death are established,” Lyashko said.

The minister said that out of more than 27 thousand cases, only 4% of people who were vaccinated with at least one dose of the vaccine.

“When we look at hospitalizations, 95-97% of people who are not vaccinated are hospitalized,” he added.

As a reminder, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) delivered 2,930,300 doses of mRNA vaccine to Ukraine from COVID-19 manufactured by Moderna. The drug was obtained as part of the global COVAX initiative.
