Ukraine pushed back Russian troops in the Kharkiv direction for 40 km

The Russian troops planned to capture Kharkov and hold it in order to advance further in the Donbass.

The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine counterattacked Russian troops near Kharkov, pushing them back 40 km from the city.

About it informs Foreign Policy reporter Jack Deutsch, citing Pentagon sources.

“The Ukrainian counter-offensive against Russia near Kharkiv pushed the invading forces nearly 25 miles (40 km) from Ukraine’s second largest city,” a senior US Department of Defense official said.

He also added that the Russian troops planned to capture Kharkiv and hold it in order to advance further in the Donbass.
