Ukraine is gripping, 5 people are killed by shelling by the National Guard

KIEV – Five people died, five others were injured in a shooting by National Guard troops in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday (1/27/2022).

The news was disclosed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The atmosphere in the country is increasingly tense with threats from armed rebel groups and a potential Russian invasion.

“The armed shooter is still at large. Four of those shot dead at the scene were members of the military, while one was a civilian woman,” the ministry said in a statement.

“At 03:40 (01:40 GMT) tragedy occurred on the territory of the Southern Yuzhmash Machinery Manufacturing Plant. A soldier of the Ukrainian National Guard, Conscripted Ryabchuk Artemy Yuryevich, born in 2001, after being given a gun, fired at the National Guard on duty from a Kalashnikov rifle for unknown reasons, after which he fled with the gun. As a result, five people were killed and five others injured,” the ministry said.

“The area of ​​the factory where the incident occurred has been cordoned off and heavily guarded, with an internal investigation launched at the military unit,” the National Guard press service reported on Thursday (1/27/2022).

The motive for the shooter’s action is still unknown. A police operation has been launched in the city, with national police personnel and National Guard units on high alert.

This incident adds to the concerns of citizens amid the news circulated by the Western media that Russia will soon attack Ukraine.

Russia has repeatedly denied allegations of wanting to launch an invasion of Ukraine. Nevertheless, NATO continues to deploy weapons to Ukraine.
