Kyiv has asked to receive the seized gold and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of Russia. This became known from the statement of the First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine Denis Kudin on Friday.
It is about 415 billion dollars, which belong to the Russian Central Bank and have been arrested.
According to the Ukrainian official, a mechanism for their confiscation is being developed together with Western partners.
“In fact, this amount is almost enough to cover Ukraine’s direct one-off losses.
“We expect in the near future, together with the governments of the partner countries, to find a legal mechanism through which this money will be used to further the recovery of the Ukrainian economy,” Kudin said on one of the Ukrainian TV channels.
