On Wednesday evening, Conor McGregor announced that he would donate 1 million euros to Irish hospitals. With his donation, the MMA fighter wants to contribute to the fight against the corona virus.
“Today I donate EUR 1 million for protective materials to all hospitals in the Leinster region. The Irish region most affected,” McGregor wrote on Twitter.
The Irish cage fighter praised a number of hospitals in the region. “St. James’s, Mater, Tallaght, Beaumont and St. Vincent’s are doing a great job. Where would the world be without all those brave men and women? God be with you and keep you safe and healthy.”
A day earlier, McGregor had called for a complete lockdown in Ireland to prevent further spread of the virus. Ireland has about 1,500 infections with the COVID-19 virus and nine fatalities.

McGregor, 31, is the best known and richest Irish sportsman. He has an estimated wealth of over 100 million euros. He made a successful comeback in January after more than a year’s absence from the UFC.
