Udo Lindenberg is back on the concert stage: The panic rocker has started his “Udopium 2022” tour. He’s already been to Schwerin, Stuttgart and Frankfurt, the next stop is Bremen. Among other things, a singer from Villingen-Schwenningen was there.

You can rely on his fans: when Udo Lindenberg goes on tour, the halls are more than full. Because the 76-year-old provides gripping entertainment – for the eyes and for the ears. On June 3rd he will appear in the ÖVB Arena in Bremen.

What can the fans expect when Udo Lindenberg performs?

Lindenberg, who formulated a special appeal in Calw in March, dances across the stage as ever, twirls the microphone, flirts with dancers and singers. Of course, the panic orchestra should not be missing – there is also a children’s choir. Vocal support is provided by Ina Bredehorn (36) from Hamburg and Nathalie Dorra (46), who has been a permanent member of the ensemble as a soul singer since the late 90s and was born in Villingen-Schwenningen, but no longer lives there.

When will Nathalie Dorra come on stage?
She can be seen permanently as a background singer, she has her own appearance together with Udo Lindenberg on songs like “Horizont” or “Through hard times”. Dorra, like many other artists, had had a hard time with the pandemic. The job as a singer was her only mainstay. “Naively I saw him as a secure source of income.”
How long does Udo Lindenberg’s show last?
Fans can look forward to a good two hours of the finest panic rock. The first of two concerts in Stuttgart’s Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle lasted from 8 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. – then after 27 songs Udo Lindenberg floated away from his rocket again, waving towards the hall ceiling. By the way, just as he had already practiced on the previous tours to the sounds of Odyssey.

In Stuttgart, the panic rocker was happy that after the corona pandemic and “three years of abstinence” he was back on stage with the entire panic family – and also back in the valley basin. “Finally here again. In the wild south!” Udo Lindenberg called out to his fans: “In the wild south, where temperament was invented. Blood Karamba boils in your veins. I’ve missed you like someone who needs the stuff.”
Speaking of temperament: How was the mood at the concert by Udo Lindenberg?
In Schwerin at the start of the tour there were around 8,000 people in the sports and congress hall, in Stuttgart around 10,000 at the first concert. However, it took a while for the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle to really get going. It was rather Swabian restraint at concert one, whoever had a seat naturally stayed seated the entire time. And in the standing room – except for the front area – for a long time it was more of a sway than a boisterous celebration.
No Udo Lindenberg without political statements: what were there in Stuttgart?
In fact, there were the same as before in Schwerin. Udo Lindenberg blasphemed about the state of the Catholic Church, celebrated the gay movement and also commented on the Ukraine war. The clearest announcement was made after the Heinz Rühmann cover of “I break the hearts of the proudest women” against the Catholic Church and its abuse scandals: “And the cardinal sleeps in the hammock. We need clarification and consistency. Hello Franzi! (Editor’s note: Pope Francis) Please wake up and don’t crash our beautiful Catholic Church.”
What did Udo Lindenberg say about the Ukraine war?
Between the songs “What are wars for” and “We’re moving to peace” he says: “Even if some say that pacifism is naïve today: We need utopias. Despite all realism, we must never give up utopia. It’s about the future of our children, in Ukraine, in Russia and in Germany and all over the world.”
