The UC Theater Classroom premieres ‘La danza Sioux’, by Rodrigo Llorente and ‘Matando horas’, by Rodrigo García
The performances will take place, in double session, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in the Paraninfo de las Llamas of the UIMP
El theater classroom from the University of Cantabria (UC) premieres this weekend, in a double session, the works ‘La danza Sioux’, by Rodrigo Llorente and ‘Matando horas’, by Rodrigo García. The performances will have two screenings in the UIMP Paraninfo de las Llamas, the first on Friday, June 2 at 8:00 p.m. and the second on Saturday, June 3 at the same time and place.
La danza Sioux is the winning work of the Short Theater Award “Isaac Cuende” from the UC Social Council written by Rodrigo Llorente, a UC graduate student and Civil Engineer. The piece presents a crazy situation in a minimal space with some peculiar characters, mediated by Alexa voice assistant tips.
It is a production of the UC Theater Classroom directed by Francisco Valcarce and with Victor Lorenzo as responsible for lighting. The cast is made up of Álvaro Díaz, Blanca Ortueta, J. Miguel Tezanos, Camino Sabio, Fernando Madrazo and Ángel Gutiérrez.
Complete the program killing hoursalso a production of the Aula de Teatro UC, which has the artistic direction of Rita Cofiño and the lighting design of Victor Lorenzo.
As Cofiño explains, “it is a contemporary play because we wanted to continue exploring different theatrical genres and this was one of the styles that we had not touched”. Rodrigo García’s work, he points out, is a text from his early days with the that “we have carried out a research exercise in contemporary languages. We have experimented with the visual in the staging and it has led us to put memory mechanisms into operation to take a journey through loneliness or heartbreak”.
Under the approach that the author makes in the prologue of the work with the hypothesis that by deliberately leaving the texts “free” it may generate in some the desire to organize the material according to their experiences or with their own images, the group UC theater performs its own research exercise in contemporary languages.
