UC Professor Awarded National Academy of Medicine Award

Dr. Calor Rojas Malpica, a retired UC professor, and his colleagues Trino Baptista Troconis (ULA) and Miguel Angel De Lima Salas (UCV), were awarded the José María Vargas 2020 Prize, which was awarded by the National Academy of Medicine.

The award was conferred on them for their research “The self, the brain and free will”, where the knowledge of neuroscience and its relations with psychology, philosophy and theology are deeply exposed.

The members of the evaluating jury considered this to be an unprecedented investigation in Venezuela.

The award will be presented in a solemn session to be held in the Auditorium of the Palace of the Academies, the day of the inauguration of the new directive of the academy, whose date has not been established, due to the quarantine against Covid- 19.

Rojas Malpica is recognized for his extensive scientific career with the Researcher Stimulus Program, he is also an Academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Spain, professor emeritus of the Institute of Psychiatrists of the Spanish Language and founding member of the World Society of Cultural Psychiatry.
