CDC staff have indicated that their internal accounting systems are not equipped for the incremental distribution of funds as outlined by White House officials, notably given the ambiguity surrounding grant reviews and approval timelines. A CDC staffer commented on the federal government’s lack of agility, stating, “We will put out the money we have and [state and local public health departments] will have to do what they can.”
