Two young children died after falling into a garden pond in Greven in Münsterland. The two two-year-old siblings – a boy and a girl – died in the hospital on Friday, like a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office Münster the German press agency said.
No evidence of third party debt
There are no indications of third party negligence. “It is a tragic accident.” Out of respect for the family, the spokesman did not want to give any further information.
The two children had been found lifeless in the pond on Thursday afternoon. They were brought to the university clinic in Münster in critical condition with life-support measures, where the boy and a little later his sister died.
Children were probably running to the neighbor’s goldfish pond
As the “picture” reports, the mother of the children rested in the bedroom while the father was to take care of the children. However, he probably also fell asleep in the living room. According to a neighbor, the children are said to have crossed a street and walked to the neighboring property. This had a goldfish pond in which the children are said to have drowned.
A relative said the “picture”: “The children were used to water, always played in the paddling pool on the balcony. That is why they thought the pond was a pool and thought they could bathe in it.”
