Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Vahram Poghosyan, said that the shelling of peaceful settlements in Karabakh, including the capital Stepanakert… He urged the population to take cover. Earlier on Sunday Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated that the Armenian Armed Forces fired on settlements on the line of contact in Karabakh, according to these data, there are civilians killed. The Armenian side has not yet officially commented on this information. The conflict in Karabakh began in February 1988, when the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region announced its secession from the Azerbaijan SSR. During the armed confrontation in 1992-1994, Azerbaijan lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh and the seven surrounding areas. Since 1992, negotiations have been held on a peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, headed by three co-chairs – Russia, the United States and France.
