(Two Sessions) China to strengthen judicial protection of IPRs – Xinhua English.news.cn

BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhua) – China will strengthen judicial protection of intellectual property rights (IPRs) to support innovation-driven development, according to a Supreme People’s Court (SSC) activity report on Monday.

More efforts will be made to strengthen basic technology IPR protection in key areas and emerging industries, the report submitted Monday to the current national legislative session for deliberation, said.

Chinese courts at all levels concluded 466,000 first instance IPR-related cases in 2020, up 11.7% year-on-year. Compensation for IPR infringements increased by 79.3% last year.

In 2020, the CPS released ten judicial interpretations and normative documents related to IPRs to facilitate rights holders and increase compensation for infringements, according to the report.
