“RTU Border Guard” / ”Jūrmala” and “Biolars” / ”Jelgava” started the first trip of the season to Estonia in the “Credit24” championship on Saturday with “dry” losses.

“Biolars” / “Jelgava” in Kuressaare with “0-3 (20:25, 25:27, 23:25) gave up” Saaremaa “.

Eugene Vyatkin scored ten points in favor of the guests, Maxim Morozov and Alexander Kudryashov scored nine points each.

“RTU Border Guard” / ”Jūrmala” Tartu with 0-3 (21:25, 19:25, 19:25) acknowledged the superiority of “Bigbank Tartu”.

For Rigans, four players accumulated the sum of two-digit points. Jēkabs Dzenis had 13 points, 11 – Renārs Paulas Jansons, who scored five of them in the block, and ten – Gatis Garklāvs and Aleksandrs Avdejevs.

In another match in Jēkabpils, the flagship of Latvia in recent years Jēkabpils “Lūši” celebrated the victory in the match of two teams from the eastern part of the country, defeating the “Daugavpils University” / “Ezerzeme” team with 3-1 (25:21, 25:19, 23:25, 25: 21).

Kristaps Šmits was the most productive winner with 25 points, Pāvels Jemeļjanovs and Armands Āboliņš accumulated 12 points each, and Vladislavs Blumbergs, who blocked the opponents seven times.

22 points for guests Denis Pavlov, 14 for Andris Širjakovs, who has four blocks, and 11 points for Anton Nazarov.

The league is led by Saaremaa with 20 points in seven battles, followed by Lynx with 13 points in five matches. “Parnu”, represented by Atvars Ozoliņš, Tomas Švanas and Kristaps Platačs, is fourth with seven points in four games, sixth with five points in battles is “RTU Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, eighth with three points in four matches – “Biolars” / “Jelgava” , but the last tenth place without points in three battles is taken by “Daugavpils University” / “Ezerzeme”.

It was planned that in October, in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, Latvian clubs would meet only with each other in the Credit24 master class. However, as the number of patients in the three Baltic States leveled off, the battles of Latvian clubs with neighboring teams became possible sooner.

Ten teams are participating in the men’s competition this year in the “Credit24” Championship – five from Estonia (Tartu “Bigbank”, “Parnu”, “Saaremaa”, Tallinn “Selver” and “TalTech”), four from Latvia (“Daugavpils University” / “Ezerzeme”) , “RTU Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, Jēkabpils “Lūši” and “Biolars” / “Jelgava”), and among the participants there are again Lithuanian representatives – Klaipeda “Amber Volley”.

At the end of March this year, due to the proliferation of Covid-19, the organizers of the tournament decided not to play in the “Final four” tournament, as a result of which the champions were not crowned.
