Two hospitals could be dedicated to treating Covid-19 patients

According to the information that a hospital could be allocated for Covid-19 patients in particular, Mūrmane-Umbraško said that the ministry has ideologically identified possible hospitals that do not currently provide emergency treatment for patients.

The NMPD is currently in talks with two hospitals, and the MoD will be able to announce on Thursday whether the talks have been successful.

However, if this does not happen, then it is planned to start negotiations with other medical institutions.

According to her, the implementation of this plan would also require staff, and in the coming days people should be actively recruited to attract staff to treat these patients. She pointed out that we also need to think about the premises, beds and the necessary equipment.

It has already been reported that 79 new cases of Covid-19 infection were detected last day, but four people with confirmed Covid-19 infection have died, according to data compiled by the SPKC. Two of the dead are in the age group of 55 to 60 years, two more – in the age group of 80 to 95 years.

There were 2237 tests for Covid-19 in the last day, so the proportion of positive cases against those tested is 3.5%. The SPCC has previously explained that this figure is considered important in the European Union, as above 3%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

To date, 4757 people have been confirmed with Covid-19 in Latvia, but recovery has been confirmed in 1357 patients.

Data compiled by the National Health Service show that a total of 23 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized last day. Meanwhile, a total of 165 patients are currently being treated in hospitals, of whom 158 have a moderate course of the disease and seven have a severe course of the disease.

Two patients left the hospital last day, thus 325 patients have been discharged from the hospital so far.
