Two HFF Munich teams receive Oscars – film-tv-video.de

Two “Student Academy Awards”, aka students’ Oscars, go to HFF Munich teams. BR co-produced the films.

Two films from the HFF teams will receive student Oscars this year, but which one is not yet known.

The HFF graduation film »Almost Home« and the HFF training film »Eigenheim«, both made by the HFF Munich teams, received student Oscars this year. So far, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, has only announced that the two films will be awarded. Gold, silver and bronze will be announced in a face-to-face event on October 20, 2022 at the David Geffen Theater in Los Angeles. The two HFF productions were nominated among the finalists in the Narrative category along with five other films from around the world (message).

Voices from the HFF

HFF President Prof. Bettina Reitz: “A double, great success for HFF Munich and the feature film direction department led by Prof. Julia von Heinz and Prof. Marcus H. Rosenmüller. I warmly congratulate the teams (…) for the two Student Academy Awards, for this important international recognition! I am particularly pleased that the Academy has selected two such different films this year. (…) This award not only underlines the high quality of our training at the HFF in Munich in an international comparison, but is also a huge encouragement for all young artistic talents in Germany. “

Prof. Julia von Heinz and prof. Marcus H. Rosenmüller, who jointly head up the feature film directing department of the Munich HFF: »There have never been two Oscars in a year. We are infinitely proud of Welf and Nils. Both have addressed big social issues in their films and dealt with them in a highly emotional way on a human level. Their mastery of directing becomes virtually invisible as you immerse yourself in their stories. We are delighted that the Academy has recognized the two films and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. “

Student Academy Awards

In 2022, for the 49th time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will once again present the Student Academy Awards to young directors. Prizes are awarded in the fields of experimental cinema, animation, documentary and feature film (narrative).

A total of 1,796 applications were received this year from 614 colleges and universities around the world.

Since 1988, 24 productions from German universities have received »Student Academy Awards« in the categories of animation and fiction
