Two died in a traffic accident in Alta – the municipality has set crisis staff – VG

On Tuesday, five people were involved in a serious traffic accident in Alta in Finnmark. Two of them lost their lives.

The police reported the meeting accident, which happened in Kvenvik outside Alta, just after 8 pm.

A total of five people in two cars were involved, and the police confirm on Tuesday night that two of them lost their lives.

The three others involved are injured and transported to UNN Tromsø by air ambulance. In a update just after 11.30 pm on Tuesday night, the hospital reports that one of these is seriously injured, while the other two have minor injuries.

In Alta municipality, crisis staff has been set up after the serious accident.

– In connection with the car accident at Kvenvik, Alta municipality has set crisis staff. Relatives are followed up by a psychosocial crisis team and a priest, the municipality writes in a press release according to Altaposten.

According to NRK, a psychosocial crisis team and priest will follow up the relatives, and the work will continue through the night and the next few days.

– My thoughts go to the relatives, says mayor Monica Nielsen to the channel.

In an update at 10.30 pm on Tuesday night, the police write that they are still working to notify relatives after the accident.

The on-site E6 is closed due to the accident. The police’s operations manager Leo Johansen tells VG that there is talk of major material damage.

– There has been a collision between two cars on a short stretch of road between two tunnels, says Johansen.
