After a dangerous turning maneuver on the B31 near Freiburg, two people were killed in a collision: the 74-year-old driver of the car and his 49-year-old passenger. The collision with a mobile home occurred early Monday evening shortly after the approach to the B31 near Breitnau (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district), the police said. The car registered in Italy had taken the driveway to the B31 in the direction of Hinterzarten. On the acceleration lane, the driver recognized that he actually wanted to go in the direction of Freiburg and therefore tried to turn “almost at right angles” across the four lanes, it was said. His car collided with a mobile home driving in the direction of Hinterzarten. According to the police, the driver and his passenger died at the scene of the accident. The 63-year-old driver of the motorhome and his 54-year-old passenger were only slightly injured. The federal highway had to be completely closed for several hours.
