Two children resuscitated after turning smoothly in Almere

The accident happened on the Cascade Path. The victims have been resuscitated and taken to hospital with heart rate and breathing, a police spokesman said. He cannot say how they are doing now.

Six children

The children were part of a group of six children who were on the water on a raft. They pulled themselves from one side of the ditch to the other using ropes.

According to the spokesman, the raft turned over and two children fell under the raft. “By quickly and properly intervening bystanders, they could be quickly removed from the water.”

Emergency services broke out en masse, several ambulances, police cars and fire engines quickly arrived. Images on social media showed divers assisting the relief effort.

The raft has now been taken out of the water. According to the police spokesman, the other four children are back at home. How the accident could happen is still under investigation.
