Twitter will again assign blue check marks to profiles | NOW

Users of Twitter will again be able to request a blue check mark. Twitter announced on Tuesday that it is working on a new one procedure to verify the identity of users.

The blue check mark is after the name of verified users on Twitter. This system is designed to make sure people know they are dealing with someone’s real Twitter account. Usually these are famous persons.

Twitter is currently working on making it possible to request verified status again. In a blog post, Twitter is asking for feedback from its users to streamline the process.

Since 2017 it is no longer possible to request a blue check mark. Twitter stopped all verification requests after accounts of far-right groups were given verified status. This resulted in a lot of criticism from users.

It is not yet clear when exactly it will be possible to have an account verified again. Twitter currently holds it at ‘early 2021’.
