Twitter suspends account of youtuber related to Bukele accused of harassment against two former FMLN candidates

This Sunday, Daniela Genovez and Karina Sosa filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office against Roberto Silva. While the TSE will evaluate to remove the journalist credential with which he has entered the hotel where the final scrutiny is carried out.

The Twitter account of Roberto Silva, a member of New Ideas and youtuber who produces material related to the Government, was suspended after multiple complaints to the social network after his comments against two former FMLN candidates.

Through his account, Silva published videos and texts harassing the former FMLN deputy candidate, Daniela Genovez, who was inside the capital hotel where the final scrutiny is taking place.

Genovez, who indicated that he was the victim of harassment by the alleged journalist from the state radio station, filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Office of the Attorney for the Defense of Human Rights (PDDH).

“We are afraid that our physical integrity is in danger because we do not know what it is capable of,” Genovez told reporters this Sunday while accompanying Deputy Karina Sosa, who also expanded the complaint to the FGR.

Silva is an alleged content creator of the YouTube platform and who is close to the ruling party and whose credential from the state Radio El Salvador allowed him to enter the place where the scrutiny is carried out.

This Sunday, the TSE will study whether to revoke the press credential previously given to Silva after the complaints of two women members of the FMLN for harassment, violence against women and defamation.

Only people with credentials approved by the TSE, including journalists, have access to the area where the final scrutiny is carried out.

During the last hours, a video of Silva insulting Genovez has circulated on social networks. Users on Twitter showed their disgust at Silva’s harassment and misogynistic attitude.

The president of the Association of Journalists of El Salvador (APES), Angélica Cárcamo, also condemned the expressions of violence against women issued by the youtuber against the two former FMLN candidates.
