Twitter Faces Consequences for Firing Moderators and Leaving EU Code of Conduct

The company left the voluntary European code of conduct for internet platforms at the end of last month. For the time being this has not had any effect, but from August 25 Twitter, at least in Europe, will have to take its fight against disinformation seriously.

That is when the Digital Service Act of the EU comes into effect. It states that all internet platforms that want to be active in Europe must adhere to guidelines with regard to disinformation and the spread of hate.
