The Amsterdam housing corporation Ymere is demanding 130,000 euros from a former trainee who used twelve rental properties for cannabis cultivation.

The then 19-year-old student studied socio-legal services at the ROC in Amsterdam. He did an internship in the rental department.

He used homes of tenants who had died and told next of kin that the rent had been canceled, while he collected it through another account. The trainee ran into the lamp when one of the relatives asked questions about the termination of the lease. The housing corporation sent the intern away and filed a report, but the Ministry of Justice did nothing about it.

That is why, seven years later, Ymere has started civil proceedings to recover the damage. “Social rental homes are intended for home seekers. Not for criminal practices,” says Ymere AT5 in NH News.

The former intern is said to have said in court today that he can’t remember anything about the internship. The court will rule on May 10.
