In the midst of the coronavirus health crisis and the complex economic scenario that it has maintained for some time, TVN decided not to continue broadcasting the Olmué Festival and in the next few days will be decided on its alliance with the Viña Festival.
The public station chose to not make valid the clause to carry out for one more year the folkloric event of January, after being seven years in charge.
Of course, the event still stands and the mayor of Olmué, Jorge Jil, told El Mercurio that they are “working on the tender” and that they do not want it to stop. “If we do not have a channel, we will evaluate how to do it through other platforms”, expressed the authority.
In addition to Olmué, TVN could also leave next year’s Viña Festival. Everything will be known next Thursday at the board meeting when the issue is raised and undo its alliance with Channel 13 and FOX, which lasted until 2022.
According to El Mercurio, there is consensus that the event cannot be carried out due to the coronavirus and also due to the economic losses that it could generate for the state channel.
