Turns his back on Trump: – A national blunder

More and more Republicans are congratulating Joe Biden on his victory in the US presidential election, but there is still a man in the White House who refuses to admit defeat.

The president has been a rare sight since the election defeat, and has rather sent his team of lawyers out to advance allegations of electoral fraud.

At a press conference on Thursday, the lawyers claimed, among other things, that Trump beat Joe Biden in a regular election landslide without any evidence of irregularities being presented to any significant degree. Trump’s lawyers spent nearly two hours reviewing a long list of allegations they believed were evidence of electoral fraud.

The lawyers’ press conference has attracted attention, and now several of Trump’s party colleagues have had enough.

Goes hard

One of them is Trump’s Republican party colleague, former governor of New Jersey and Trump adviser, Chris Christie. In an interview with ABC News Christie takes a hard line against Trump and his legal team after Thursday’s press conference.

– I have been a supporter of the president. I voted for him twice, says Christie in an interview with ABC’s “This Week”.

– But elections have consequences, and we can not continue to pretend that something has happened that has not happened, he continues.

– A national blunder

Christie believes it is time for Trump and his legal team to present any evidence of electoral fraud.

“Honestly, the behavior of the president’s legal team has been a national blunder,” he said, referring to attorney Sidney Powell’s allegations of widespread electoral fraud at the recent press conference.

– Sidney Powell accused Kemp (Governor Brian Kemp, editor’s note) of crime on TV, but is not willing to go on TV to defend and present the evidence she claims to have, Christie is furious.

Dissociates himself from the lawyer

Powell claimed that Kemp and Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger had received money to tamper with the election results in an interview with the TV channel NewsMax.

The Trump camp dissociated itself from the lawyer on Monday night, claiming that she is not part of the legal team for the Trump campaign, according to Reuters.

Trump has previously referred to Powell as one of his lawyers. He did so most recently in a Twitter message on November 14.

Nor is it the first time former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has spoken out against the president.

– We can not support you blindly without proof, stated the party colleague a short time ago.

– The voters spoke

Christie is not the only party member who has now had enough.

Republican Fred Upton, a congressman from Michigan, has also stated that the election is over for the president of the state of Michigan.

Following the Trump tenant’s allegations of electoral fraud in the state, Upton has stated that there is no evidence.

“Voters spoke, and again in Michigan there is not a razor-sharp margin, but there are 154,000 votes,” Upton told CNN on Sunday.

He also emphasized to the channel the importance of a good transition process for Joe Biden.

Asks Trump to acknowledge defeat

After a court rejected Trump’s demand to set aside the election result in Pennsylvania, the state’s Republican senator, Pat Toomey, also reversed. Toomey has not acknowledged that Biden won the election until now.

In a press release he congratulates Biden on the victory, and asks Trump to acknowledge the election defeat.

“To ensure that he is remembered for his outstanding achievements, and to help us unite the country, President Trump should accept the outcome of the election and facilitate the transfer of presidential power,” Toomey wrote.

– Time to stop this nonsense

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, also criticized Trump’s efforts in an interview with CNN. Hogan is a well-known critic of the president.

According to the channel, Hogan is “embarrassed that several party members do not talk” about what he describes as “bizarre moves” from the Trump camp.

– We used to monitor elections all over the world, and we were a country that respects elections. Now it’s starting to look like we’re a banana republic. It is time to stop this nonsense, he says to the channel.

Trump hit back at Hogan, referring to him as just a Republican by name in a tweet. Hogan liked it bad who responded by urging the president to “stop playing golf.”

Congratulations Biden

According to CNN, Republican Congressman Paul Mitchell of Michigan, Senator Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have recently stated that the formal transition process should now begin.

Both Collins and Murkowski were two of three Republican senators who did not sign a resolution condemning the Democrats’ investigation into President Donald Trump.

In addition, Collins and Murkowski did not Mitt Romney either. Romney is a well-known Trump critic, and has gone so far as to congratulate Joe Biden on the victory.

Ann and I congratulate incoming President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. We know them both as well-meaning and admirable people, Romney, who has had major disagreements with Trump, has written Twitter.

Dagbladet has previously written about whether Trump should acknowledge the election defeat or not split the Republicans, and now more and more people are turning their backs on the president and his legal team.
