Turnov’s screw workshop is ending. More than a hundred people will lose their jobs Semilsko | From the region of | Liberec Gossip

The Turnov screw shop will stop production during this or next month. Few orders and high energy prices are to blame. Over 100 people will lose their jobs at the Turnov plant.

The company is in liquidation, but it will probably be able to repay its obligations. This follows from today’s statement by the director of the company Pavel Hendrych for. The liquidator of the company offers the Turnuz plant for sale.

The screw manufacturer in Turnov has been operating for more than 70 years, according to the director, there are more reasons for closing down. “Decreased orders in automotive, high energy prices, long-term not very good condition of the company,” said Hendrych.

The company lives up to its obligations

The general meeting decided to liquidate the joint-stock company from February 1 this year at the end of January, also on the basis that the unreimbursed loss from previous years amounted to half of the share capital. It amounts to 138.423 million crowns. Despite the termination of activity, the company will probably manage to pay off all its obligations. “At the moment it looks like it is. We do everything for it. However, it is necessary to satisfy all customer requirements and get paid,” stated Hendrych.

It should not be a big problem for the laid-off workers to find new employment, according to data from the labor office, there is a second Kamax screwdriver shop in Turnov, in addition to a number of other companies, which currently offers approximately eight jobs, but there are dozens of vacancies in the city and region. The area of the municipality with extended jurisdiction of Turnov has the lowest unemployment in the Liberec region, at the end of January it reached 3.2 percent. It is also thanks to the fast connection to Liberec and Mlada Boleslav. There were 687 people without work in the region in January, and there were 188 more vacancies.

In the Turnov factory, they produced up to 650 million screws annually for the automotive industry and manufacturers of washing machines and compressors, most of the production was purchased by domestic customers. Just six years ago, Šroubárna employed almost 190 people. At that time, revenues exceeded a quarter of a billion crowns and the economy ended up with a loss of almost nine million crowns. According to the liquidator’s report, last year’s sales as of November 30 were 210 million, and the economic result was a loss of over 16 million crowns.

Those interested in the sold Turnov race have already appeared. “However, this is a partial takeover,” Hendrych added. In previous years, the modernization of the plant was supported by European programs. Ten years ago, the subsidy was aimed at building a logistics hall with a warehouse, the construction of which required over 18 million crowns. Another 26 million was spent on building an administrative and commercial building, which the company opened over six years ago. At that time, the subsidy covered 35 percent of the costs.
