Turkey will not join the sanctions against Russia, even despite the requests of the West.
This was stated by the official representative of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Ibrahim Kalin.
“We cannot do this, as it will hit our economy first of all. On the other hand, we have an intermediary role, because everything goes through Turkey,” he said in an interview with the Haberturk TV channel.
“We do not impose sanctions and will not be involved in them. We must protect our interests. If everyone destroys the bridges, who will end up talking to Russia? Our economic relations with Russia are of such a nature that the imposition of sanctions will cause more damage to the Turkish economy than Russia. We took a clear position. It was accepted in the West,” Erdogan’s spokesman said.
Remember, Turkey threatens to postpone the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO by more than a year. The Chairman of the Turkish Parliament said that the country deserves more respect.
