Turkey: WhatsApp postpones its update to May 15 – Hürriyet.de

January 16, 2021 4:34 pm

WhatsApp has postponed its new update of its privacy policy in Turkey from February 8th to May 15th, the company announced on January 15th.

The popular messenger said that misinformation was a cause for concern among users and that many were looking for alternatives. Many users fear that they will have to accept the new privacy policy and that all their private data will end up with the parent company Facebook.

WhatsApp will not lock accounts

“We will always protect your personal conversations with end-to-end encryption, so that neither WhatsApp nor Facebook can see your private messages,” the statement said: “We cannot share your location or your contacts with Facebook.”

Instead, they want to be more transparent when collecting data. Nor would any user accounts be blocked or deleted.
